The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent Review

If you told me that in 2022 that a film where Nicolas Cage plays Nick Cage would be released and that the film would be good. I truly wouldn’t believe you, but it happened. In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent Nicolas Cage plays a caricature of himself, who is broke and has a troubling relationship with his wife and daughter. But when the offer comes in to make a million dollars to attend a birthday party of super fan Javi Gutierrez (who is played by Pedro Pascal) he takes it not knowing that the CIA is very interested in Javi Gutierrez. This film is simply funny. Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal are both great and have a amazing on-screen chemistry that is just simply so fun to watch. Any time they two are on screen the film is simply funny and super engaging.

While the overall plot is very simplistic and not very complex, it does do a few unique things to allow the plot to not feel overly cliché. What doesn’t help is that the other characters surrounding Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal and very one note and very bland and nowhere near as entertaining. But at the end of the day, this film is simply an easy watch and at 1 hour and 47 minutes it leads to a comedy that is worth checking out as when the jokes land they are simply hilarious and will make you laugh at loud.
